A Different Development Approach

With a larger development team and a more mature product, we have the luxury now of developing Loupe 3.8 more “in the open” than we used to.  The biggest concern about showing your hand early is that priorities will change and you will leave people disappointed about what you haven’t delivered on instead of excited for what’s been done.  We’re willing to run that risk in a big way so for Loupe 3.8 we’re going to have a lot more visibility into what we’re up to:

  • Here’s the internal document that the team put together of what we found during our customer surveys and what we’re proposing to do about it.
  • We’re going to post the wireframes the team has worked out for new features so you can let us know what you think and we’ll post adjustments as we work through the project.
  • As the team creates intermediate work products from sprints we’re going to make them visible to you - could be screen shots, alpha builds…  Some way you can see how we’re progressing.
  • We’ll have at least two public beta cycles before release where you can install the new Loupe, kick the tires, and get support from us if there’s a problem.

Next Up: An Overview of Loupe 3.8

We’ve got a series of blog articles queued up to walk through the goals for Loupe 3.8, where they came from, wireframes for the UI changes, and a range of technical items.  If you sign up for the Loupe Backstage Pass we’ll send you an email as these blog posts and other materials are made available.
