Loupe Cloud-Hosted Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 25, 2018

We understand that your session data passing through Loupe Cloud-Hosted may contain sensitive information and we will treat your data with proper care.

If you subscribe to Loupe Cloud-Hosted, the session data recorded by Loupe Agent will be sent to us securely and stored in a Microsoft Azure datacenter either in the US or European Union based on your selection. If a non-US datacenter is selected your data will never be stored within the US. Any Loupe clients associated with your subscription can retrieve this data via a secure connection.

What information is collected when users access Loupe Cloud-Hosted?

To access Loupe Cloud-Hosted you need an individual user account which requires your name and email address. This data is stored by the system and recorded in diagnostic and audit data. Additionally, it may be provided to third party services necessary to deliver functionality that is part of your subscription. We do not share, trade, or sell your information to third parties outside of the processes described below.

Third Party Reason
Intercom Intercom is a lightweight CRM we use to automate communication through live chat and email with trial users and customers.
Segment We automate data exchange with Intercom using Segment. The information is not stored by Segment.
Sendgrid All transactional email generated by Loupe is relayed through this service, which stores email addresses and status for diagnostic purposes.

Our website also collects non-personal data through the use of server-based “session variables,” which we use to achieve important site functionality, including the recognition of logged-in users and the secure passing of shopping cart information.

Our website uses “cookies” (a small file stored by your browser on your hard drive) to identify users of the site, facilitate certain features, and hand off information between our sites. For complete information on how our cookies are used, see our Cookies Policy.

Our web-server also records IP addresses from all visitors to our site. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer our site, to analyze trends, to track user movement, and to gather broad demographic information—all for the purpose of continually improving our website and delivering personalized, custom content. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information, and their collection is standard procedure in most web-server environments.

Our website uses Google Analytics. Identifiers such as cookies and app instance IDs are used to measure user interactions with a customer’s sites and/or apps, while IP addresses are used to provide and protect the security of the service, and to give us a sense of where in the world our visitors come from. For complete details on what information Google Analytics collects and how it is used, see Safeguarding Your Data

What Information is Collected when I add Loupe to my application?

The information collected by Loupe Cloud-Hosted is dependent on the way you configure and use Loupe Agent. This will include trace messages recorded by your program along with additional information about the executing process and the computer hosting your application such as the computer name and username associated with the process. You should be sure that any information you log through Loupe is in compliance your own corporate privacy policy. Often this includes coding guidelines to not log sensitive data such as email addresses and other personally identifiable information.

The Loupe Agent collects detailed information only about your application and summary information about the computer that it is running on. No information about other applications running or installed is collected. With regard to the data Loupe logs automatically, you can enable anonymous mode to prevent Loupe from collecting personally identifiable information.

Who can access the data I send to Loupe Cloud-Hosted?

The purpose of Loupe Cloud-Hosted is to get session data from your users to your team. Loupe passes data collected by Loupe Agents integrated with your applications to the subscribed Loupe Desktops associated with your account. The subscription between Loupe Cloud-Hosted and Loupe Desktop is based on secure authentication including using a user-specific account you create.

Note that if you configure your Loupe Cloud-Hosted account to enable notifications and extensions such as our integration with Slack or FogBugz, Loupe will transmit certain information to external systems that may be governed by other privacy policies.

The data collected by Loupe Agent and stored on Loupe Cloud-Hosted is not accessed by the Loupe development team or its affiliated employees nor is data associated with your account accessible to other customers using the Loupe Server with other accounts.
